EOKA stands for Ethniki Organosis Kiprion Agoniston, which translates to "National Organization of Cypriot Fighters." It was a Greek Cypriot nationalist guerrilla organization that operated in Cyprus during the 1950s. The group was formed with the goal of ending British colonial rule on the island and achieving Enosis, the political union of Cyprus with Greece.
