Psychiatrists and psychologists give people a diagnosis of a mental disorder when they feel very uncomfortable and rejected by their sex body and their internal sense of gender identity. Most trans people don't agree with the old and clinical idea that being trans is a disorder. However, medical professionals still use the term.
