Grand Slams

In baseball, a Grand Slam is a type of home run that occurs when a batter hits a home run while the bases are loaded. This means that there are runners on first, second, and third base when the batter hits the home run. A Grand Slam results in four runs being scored, which is the maximum number of runs that can be scored on a single play in baseball.

The term "Grand Slam" is thought to have originated from the card game of bridge, in which it refers to winning all 13 tricks in a single deal. In baseball, the term has been used to describe a bases-loaded home run since at least the late 1800s.
