Hazard Communication Standard

An OSHA standard that guarantees employees the right to know about chemical hazards on the job and how to protect themselves from those hazards. Under HAZCOM, all manufacturers and employers must prepare a written hazard communication program; prepare a list of all hazardous materials in the workplace; label all containers of hazardous materials in the workplace; collect and maintain a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for each hazardous material present in the workplace; and provide employee training on specific topics related to hazardous substances.
