Mono, di and tri-propylene glycol are produced commercially. Monopropylene glycol (MPG) is the most widely used, and is found in cosmetics, foods, pharmaceuticals and laundry detergents, as well as substituting for monoethylene glycol in anti-freeze formulations where lower toxicity is required or chiefly to make unsaturated polyester resins used in fibreglass composites for construction applications.
