Plaster

Material of a mortar like consistency used for covering walls and ceilings of buildings usually made of Portland cement mixed with sand and water. The material which is spread to leave a smooth surface on a wall or ceiling.

Plate

To cut a lengthwise groove in a board or plank. An exterior handrail normally has a ploughed groove for hand gripping purposes. A thin, flat piece of metal of uniform thickness usually over 8 inches to 48 inches in width.
