Variable resistor in which a wiper sweeps from one end of the resistive element to the other, resulting in resistance that is proportional to the wiper's position. A three-terminal resistor with an adjustable center connection generally used to control voltage; widely used for volume control in radio and television receivers. In this sense, also called a Pot. A three terminal device with a wiper that is positioned along a resistive element,making it a voltage divider.
