The voltage between the phase and neutral of a three phase system is defined as the phase to neutral voltage or more commonly as the phase voltage. For a balanced three phase system, the phase voltage is 1/S3 times the line to line voltage. The voltage across one arm of either a star connected load or a delta connected load is also sometimes referred to as the voltage across a phase or phase voltage. This latter quantity is the same as the phase to neutral voltage for a star connected load, and the line to line voltage for a delta connected load.
