Synovial Fluid

Fluid which provides lubrication to the joints. Secreted by membranes of the joint and contained by surrounding tissues, it is very viscous and an effective lubricant. An excess or lack of fluids resulting from work stress trauma or disease will cause swelling and pain in the joint and may limit the range of motion. Also known as synovia.
