Table tennis (ping pong) is a game played on a table with a net in the middle, where two or four players throw the ball to each other. Table tennis abbreviations are used around the world.
Table tennis is a widely played indoor sport. The game of table tennis, also known as ping-pong, was developed in England in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Table tennis was played in England and the United States in the 1900s with a special celluloid ball and tambourine-like tensioned rackets. Because of the “ping-pong” sounds produced as a result of the contact of the ball with the rackets, it was also called by this name due to reflection. As time passed, the interest in the game decreased, but after the 1st World War, it started to be played again, especially in England.
