Tongue

The tongue of a stern post or propeller post is the raised middle section which is fastened to the vertical keel. A a rule the tongue is raised twice as high as the sides of the dished keel. A projection of the ice edge up to several kilometres in length, caused by wind or current. The floating portion of a glacier projecting out from a coastline is also known as an ice tongue.
