- Werdnig-Hoffmann A form of spinal amyotrophy transmitted in an autosomal recessive manner with a very early appearance, characterized by great muscular hypotonia and flaccid paralysis. It starts by attacking the proximal musculature of the lower limbs and then the whole body. There are swallowing disorders due to the spinal bulb and a disorder of the intercostal respiratory muscles. Evolution is quickly fatal.
