The Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia (abbreviation ZZZS) is a Slovenian public institute founded on March 1, 1992 on the basis of the Health Care and Health Insurance Act and is the holder and provider of compulsory health insurance in the Republic of Slovenia. It has the status of a public institution based in Ljubljana. In November 1999, the Institute transferred voluntary health insurance to the Mutual Health Insurance Company.
