Autoconfiguration

Autoconfiguration a process that deter-mines what hardware actually exists during the current instance of the running kernel at static configuration time. It is done by the autoconfiguration software that asks the devices to identify themselves and accom-plishes other tasks associated with events oc-curring during the autoconfiguration of de-vices. For instance, PCI devices have auto-configuration capabilities and do not have to be configured by users.
