What does DP stand for?

Double Pole

DP stands for Double Pole, a term used in electrical engineering to describe a type of switch or circuit breaker that simultaneously controls two separate electrical conductors. A double pole device disconnects both the live (hot) and neutral (or two hot lines in some systems), providing a more complete isolation of a circuit. This is especially important for safety in high-voltage or 240V systems, where both lines need to be cut to fully shut off power.

Double pole switches and breakers are commonly used in residential and industrial electrical panels for appliances like water heaters, dryers, and air conditioning units.
